Get started with GTM30
A 90-day roadmap to implement GTM30. Start with assessment, build your first pillar, and expand to a fully integrated framework.
Prerequisites
Before starting GTM30, ensure you have:
- 1.Product-market fit signals
Users who pay, retain, and would be disappointed if the product disappeared.
- 2.Dedicated ownership
At least one person spending 50%+ of their time on GTM30 execution.
- 3.Basic tooling
CRM, analytics, and a community platform (Discord, Slack, or Circle).
- 4.Executive alignment
Leadership buy-in on a 90-day commitment to framework implementation.
Days 1-7: Assessment
The first week is about understanding your starting position and choosing your first pillar.
Day 1-2: Audit current state
- Document existing GTM activities and their performance
- Map current customer journey touchpoints
- Identify data sources and gaps
- List team members who will be involved
Day 3-4: Pillar assessment
- Ambassadors: Do you have passionate users who already refer others?
- Community: Are there existing conversations about your space?
- Programmatic: Are there long-tail keyword opportunities?
- Cross-Functionality: Is your internal data fragmented?
Day 5-7: Choose first pillar
Score each pillar on:
- Opportunity: How much potential impact?
- Feasibility: Do you have the skills and resources?
- Timeline: How quickly can you show results?
Most companies start with Ambassadors or Community as they provide fastest feedback.
Days 8-14: First pillar setup
Week two is about establishing the foundation for your chosen pillar.
If starting with Ambassadors
- Define tier structure (start with 2-3 tiers)
- Create ambassador onboarding doc
- Set up tracking (referral links, attribution)
- Identify first 10 potential ambassadors
- Reach out personally to each
If starting with Community
- Choose platform (Discord, Slack, Circle)
- Define channel structure
- Write community guidelines
- Create welcome flow
- Seed with initial content and discussions
If starting with Programmatic
- Conduct keyword research
- Define content template structure
- Set up CMS or database
- Create first 5-10 pages
- Implement schema markup
If starting with Cross-Functionality
- Define unified schema
- Map data sources to schema
- Set up data pipelines
- Create initial dashboard
- Onboard first team to use it
Days 15-30: Build foundation
The rest of month one is about building momentum in your first pillar.
Week 3: First iterations
Execute initial activities. Gather feedback. Make quick adjustments based on what you learn.
Week 4: Establish cadence
Define repeatable processes. Document what works. Set up weekly metrics tracking.
End of month 1 checkpoint: First pillar should have clear processes, initial traction (even if small), and a baseline for metrics.
Days 31-60: Add second pillar
Month two expands the framework while maintaining momentum in pillar one.
Week 5: Second pillar selection
Choose pillar that complements the first. Ambassadors pairs well with Community. Community pairs well with Programmatic.
Week 6: Second pillar setup
Follow the same setup process as week 2. Apply learnings from first pillar to accelerate.
Weeks 7-8: Parallel execution
Run both pillars simultaneously. Start identifying connection points between them.
End of month 2 checkpoint: Two pillars operational with emerging connections. First pillar should show measurable results.
Days 61-90: Integration
Month three focuses on connecting pillars and establishing cross-functional data flows.
Week 9: Cross-pillar signals
Define how signals flow between pillars. Set up automations for critical signal routes.
Week 10: Unified metrics
Create cross-pillar dashboard. Define compound metrics that measure pillar interactions.
Weeks 11-12: Third pillar or depth
Either add a third pillar or deepen the two you have. Depends on results and team capacity.
End of month 3 checkpoint: Integrated framework with measurable pipeline influence. Clear roadmap for months 4-12.
